Survey For Money – Teenagers 2019 edition

Are you a cash strapped teenager looking to make money on the side but don’t know where to start? I have been there and know how it feels. At that age, you have limited skillsets to exchange for cash. Earning money seems like trying to squeeze blood from rocks. But fret not, I made my way out of that abyss. How? By completing surveys for money as a teenager! In this Survey For Money Teenager (2019 edition) report, I provide a step by step guide on how to do this. Free.

If you are a teenager looking to complete surveys for money, you have found the perfect place to start.

Why teenagers should complete surveys for money in 2019?

When I first started out making money online, I had 0 cents to my name. Yes, I didn’t even have a bank account with money in it. But what I had was the internet and that was where my journey into making money online started.

Back then I spent 3 days and nights searching for ways to make money online. I was exhausted but I decided that for a teenager the easiest way was to complete surveys for money. There were many things I liked about completing surveys for money.

No investment required. Being new to making money online and not having any capital to spend meant that my options were limited. Thus, surveys were perfect in this regard.

Can be done anywhere, even on the go. Wherever you are, as long as you have your phone and internet access you can start making money. How good is that?

Requires short periods of time. Surveys do not take hours to complete. They only need small pockets of time to finish. Thus, it would be perfect for filling up any spare pockets of time whenever they arise.

Contribute to society. You have the power to influence some of the largest brand’s in the world by sharing your insights. And get rewarded in the process. How good is that?

No specific qualifications or training required. As long as you meet the age requirements for a survey panel, you can sign up.

Be your own boss. Yes, you get rewarded for the amount of effort you put in. No one is going to be screaming at you for not working hard enough.

How much money can you expect to make from surveys?

Ah, the key question here and that’s what we are all here for. The amounts I made varied a lot depending on whether there were surveys for me to complete or not. But on average, I made on around $250 per month. However, I have been able to make up to $450 per month. Not too bad considering that I was working from my living room. And sometimes on the beach. While this may not be a significant amount, remember I was a teenager. Also, if I hadn’t tried making money online my alternatives were … watching Netflix. Obviously, the choice is simple, go make that money!

So is there a magic formula?

Drum roll….

There are NONE. Absolutely none. Despite what “gurus” or “experts” would have you believe there are no secrets. The key to getting good in this space is consistency and dedication, as with all things in life. We would break this part down into 5 different steps. At each stage, we would give you productivity tips.

1. Finding reputable survey panels

The first step is to find out which survey panel to sign up for. We have provided a list of reputable survey panels further down in the article. But if you want to source for them yourself, take note of the following.

Never sign up for paid survey panels. Such websites are almost certain to be scams. These providers make money through the fee you. Thus, they have minimal incentives to provide you with quality surveys. Expect the surveys offered on these panels to be of terrible quality.

Do not sign up for every survey panel out there. Doing so means giving out your personal information to them. Some websites get your information to sell them. Thus, before signing up for any panel, check their reputation online. Examples include the Better Business Bureau, which covers companies in the US, Canada, and Mexico. For panels located elsewhere, you can check their local consumer watchdog.

Other avenues for conducting research on survey panels include international organizations. Some examples include Insights Association and ESOMAR. If a company can get a thumbs up from one of these organizations, you can bet it has an excellent reputation. This is because entry requirements to be listed on these sites are very stringent.

Sign up for every reliable survey panel out there. The reason for this is simple. It is unlikely that one survey panel can consistently deliver high paying surveys to you. Thus, you have to diversify where the sources of your money is coming from. By signing up for many survey panels, you increase the odds of getting higher paying surveys.

What’s more, the surveys are delivered to you based on the profile you complete when signing up. It is unlikely that all surveys on the platform would be for your demographic. By creating your profile on many platforms, you once again avoid having to rely on one source of income. In general, you should receive roughly 4 to 5 surveys each week from each survey panel.

Understand the rewards. Different survey panels pay you differently. Some provide cash. Others provide Gift Cards or Sweepstakes entries. Do be sure to check this out before investing time completing surveys on the platform.

2. Setting up your profile on survey panels

Having found survey panels that suit your requirements, you must now sign up for them.

Create an email address for completing surveys. This allows you to avoid clutter in your personal email accounts. It also helps you stay organized.

Create a genuine profile. Creating a fake profile can could get you banned and you will lose your earnings. Don’t be foolish.

Keep your profile updated. This is important as it would determine the surveys you qualify for.

3. Monitoring for surveys

Now we cover how to make sure you get hold of the best surveys when they appear.

Actively check your emails for survey updates. Most survey panels would email you when a survey matching your profile appears. If it is a hot (ie. high-paying survey), it will get snapped up. Thus, you should link your email account to your smartphone. That way, you can immediately receive updates when such surveys appear.

Other ways of monitoring include checking social media accounts. Survey panels often have accounts on Facebook and Twitter. And often, they provide exclusive surveys through these mediums. So it pays to follow them there!

4. Completing your surveys

After receiving the survey, how should you proceed with it?

Put aside all distractions and focus. Each survey would take between 15 to 20 minutes. Given that we only have 24 hours a day, the best thing you can do to maximize your income is to ignore all distractions (eg. Your phone, YouTube and whatnot) and focus on finishing the survey. Once done, move on to the next. You are a business person, time is money for you. Don’t waste it.

Do not use a VPN. If you do not qualify for a particular survey because you are in the wrong geography, do not try to use a VPN to cheat your way into it. Established survey panels know of such practices and can easily detect this. Your account would be banned and your rewards would be forfeited.

Devise a system for tracking surveys you have completed. This system does not have to be complicated. I used a spreadsheet for tracking them. See the one I used here, absolutely free. Refer to the tab Survey panel.

5. Tracking your rewards

What good is all your hard work if you can’t reap the benefits? Once again, refer to this link. However, this time refer to the tab Surveys completed. This is how I keep tabs on the rewards I am entitled to.

But would I be scammed?

Personally, I have been part of the online survey scene for long enough to know that the number of good survey panels far outnumber the bad ones. In all my time in this space, I have only been scammed once or twice. I have put together a list of trustworthy sites below. But if you would like to know some indicators of a scam survey panel, here are some.

Requires a membership fee to be paid. Such sites make money off the fees you pay instead of the surveys you complete. Thus, you can expect such panels to provide low-quality surveys.

Unclear description of rewards. By being ambiguous about the rewards you would receive, such sites can then deny you your rightful rewards.

Requiring too much personal information. You should not be disclosing your social security number or credit card details.

Guarantees you a set income. Or promises to make you rich. There is simply no such thing in taking surveys for money. Period.

No about us page. Scammers usually try to remain anonymous or provide fake profiles online. If you can’t find a way to contact those operating the page, you can bet it is a scam.

Why these in particular?

Selecting these surveys hasn’t been an easy process. Through my years of experience in the industry, I have learned to select survey panels that are good. I have experimented with over 100 panels but would only be recommending the above 10. Let’s be clear, screening these panels wasn’t a simple process.

So how have I screened these 10 panels?

1. They have to be free for registration. Never sign up for a survey panel that requires you to pay to register.

2. Business reputation. There are many ways to check this including ratings by Better Business Bureau. It includes many useful reviews on the site. Another indicator would be the company’s reputation within the industry.

3. Payout amounts. If you have been reading this article, it obviously means you are after money (or rewards). Thus, I have taken payout amounts into consideration. I have also considered how often well-paying surveys are delivered to me.

4. Community. How much effort do the survey panels put into looking after the well-being of their members? How easy was it to contact their customer service? How professional were they in responding to customer queries?

Concluding thoughts

Completing surveys would never get you rich. You will not be able to live off the income. Still, it’s a fun and easy way to make cash for pocket money. How cool is that for a teenager to be making ~$250 per month pressing buttons on a computer? For me, it was awesome and I hope you feel the same!
